OK Plus members have given more than 1.5 million miles to the Czech Paralympic Committee since 2003 when the airline began offering members the option to donate to the organization that benefits handicapped athletes. The donated miles are used for airline tickets so handicapped athletes can travel to compete in sports events, such as the upcoming Summer Paralympics in Beijing.
František Janouch, the Chairman of the Czech Paralympic Committee, says "the trips to the upcoming Summer Paralympics are what the Czech Paralympic Committee has been saving its donated miles for." The summer games will take place from Sept. 6 through Sept. 17, 2008 and the 1.5 million miles will provide 18 economy class tickets for the athletes.
