ATLANTA, January 30, 2002 -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL - news) and its SkyMiles(R) frequent flyer program have designated the Arthritis Foundation as the SkyWish Charity of the Quarter recipient for the first quarter of 2002. SkyWish, Delta's charitable mileage donation program, will collaborate with the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization of the Arthritis Foundation to assist youth diagnosed with juvenile rheumatic disease seek the help they need.
The American Juvenile Arthritis Organization (AJAO), a Council of the Arthritis Foundation since 1981, is devoted to serving the special needs of children, teens and young adults with juvenile rheumatic disease. SkyMiles donations will be used to bring together families and health professionals at the 2002 AJAO conference. As donations permit, miles will also be used to transport children to physical and occupational therapy as well as treatment and surgery facilities.
``It is Delta's hope that the miles donated assist the Foundation in its mission to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases,'' said Rob Borden, Delta's general manager of SkyMiles Customer Loyalty Programs.
``It's only through mutually beneficial partnerships, such as this one with Delta, that we are able to meet our goal of serving one in six Americans suffering with arthritis,'' said Arthritis Foundation president and CEO, Tino Mantella. ``Miles collected through this program will directly benefit thenearly 300,000 children presently living with the number one cause of disability in this country.''

SkyMiles members may donate miles to the Arthritis Foundation via SkyWish. There is a 5,000-mile minimum donation, and Delta will boost each donation by contributing 1,000 miles for every 5,000 miles contributed.
Donations may be made via e-mail at delta.bids@delta.com, by calling 800-325-3999 or via fax at 404-773-1945. SkyMiles members should include their SkyMiles account number, and the amount of miles to be donated. In addition, they should note that the Arthritis Foundation is the charity that their miles will benefit. SkyWish donations are not tax deductible for Delta Air Lines or SkyMiles members.
