Northwest Airlines celebrates 16 years of charity efforts through its AirCares program, which has distributed several million dollars and more than 700 million frequent flyer miles, all donated by AirCares’ partners, Northwest Airlines and its customers to people in need. AirCares and its members have been major donors after such disasters as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the China earthquake.
Since 2002, Aircares’ primary initiative has been its KidCares program, which provides travel for children needing medical attention in places that they can’t afford to fly to, through donated miles by Northwest’s WorldPerks customers and then matched by the airline.
